Mathias Bank is an architect, researcher, and artist whose work explores the intersections between digital technology, art, and design. His academic background includes studying at the Aarhus School of Architecture, The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, and the University of Applied Arts, Vienna, where he earned his master’s degree with distinction.
Currently, he is conducting his PhD research within the SFB Advanced Computational Design, subproject „Computational Immediacy“, where he investigates methods for integrating AI tools within design-oriented workflows. Mathias’s work challenges conventional notions of design by using digital tools, simulations, and generative AI to explore new forms, textures, and aesthetics. By harnessing the power of digital 3D tools, simulation, and AI, he investigates new ways of creating and experiencing objects and landscape that reflect contemporary culture.
Mathias’s work and research have been exhibited worldwide, including in Denmark, Austria, France, Kuwait, Australia, The United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden & Italy, and have been awarded several prizes and grants. He is also a lecturer at the postgraduate program “Designing Future Realities” by the University of Innsbruck and Werkstätte Wattens and a Co-Founder of Artefact Mixed Reality Studio.
